ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — As far as tropical activity is concerned, the Atlantic Basin has been fairly quiet for the past few weeks. Although we haven’t had any named storms in the Atlantic Ocean since the beginning of October, the hurricane season isn’t over yet.

Today’s WFXR Weather Trivia question asks: What date marks the end of the Atlantic hurricane season?

According to the National Hurricane Center, the official hurricane season runs from June 1 to Nov. 30. Usually, peak tropical activity occurs between mid-August and mid-October.

It’s important to remember that tropical cyclone activity can sometimes occur outside of the designated hurricane season dates.
