Clouds stick around for Wednesday and a few showers are possible later in the day.
There is a chance for rain for the next several days. The rain events we’ll see won’t be “wash outs,” more so spotty rain activity. Much of the rainfall is expected to be light, but pockets of heavier rain are not out of the question.
Wednesday is starting off relatively dry, although pockets of morning drizzle are possible in spots. Otherwise skies will be mostly to partly cloudy and high temperatures will reach the mild 60s. Temperatures in the low 70s are possible in our Piedmont counties. A few spotty showers are possible Wednesday, mainly to our south. Isolated thunderstorms are not out of the question during the late afternoon and early evening hours, but we’re not expecting much when it comes to severe weather. A few rumbles of thunder are possible, as well as periods of heavy rainfall. Any rain should come to an end late Wednesday evening.
Variable cloud cover is expected for Thursday with spring-like temperatures once again returning to the region. Off and on showers are possible late Thursday and into Friday morning. Heavy rainfall is possible during the overnight hours, but much of the rain is expected to come to an end before noon Friday. A cold front will move through Friday. Winds will pick up and some clearing will occur later in the day.
Cooler air will filter in for the weekend, but it won’t be too cold. Afternoon high temperatures will return to the 50s and upper 40s for Saturday and Sunday. Another system will make its way closer to Southwest Virginia on Saturday. Rain is slated to return late Saturday and continue into Sunday.
High temperatures will warm back up into the 60s for the beginning of next week, but the chance for off and on showers sticks around in the forecast.
