Pinpoint Weather: Summer-like pattern takes hold; PM storm chances increase starting Sunday

Weather Blog

Welcome to the weekend!

Saturday will be a quiet day across the region, weatherwise, with Mostly Sunny and/or Hazy Sunshine – depending on your location.

Highs in the metros will likely top out around 90-degrees with temps more so in the low-to-mid 80s in the mountains.

As we head into Sunday, we’ll see an increase in chances of showers and thunderstorms – not an overly high chance, but the normal 30-40% chance during the afternoon. This pattern will continue through the entire week next week and into next weekend.

Temperatures should be a bit above normal for the next week with Saturday looking like the warmest day.

The daily risk for showers and thunderstorms during each afternoon, starting Sunday, will help to keep the temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s east of the Blue Ridge – more so in the lower 80s in the mountains.

Humidity levels through the period will be increasing, too, which could help to produce some areas of fog during the late-night and early-morning hours across the region – likely starting on Sunday.

So, of the next several days, today will be the day that you can feel comfortable being outside without the risk of showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon. Remember, that pattern changes starting on Sunday with a daily threat for showers and storms becoming, at least possible, across the region each afternoon. Once we start to see dew points above the 60-degree mark, we notice it becomes a bit more “sticky.”
