Rain showers and some thunderstorms are possible late today and tonight as an area of low pressure rides up the coast. The chance for widespread rain is expected on Sunday, as the low exits, the coast and a cold front arrives from the west. But there will be off and on showers and storms on Monday.

The rain will this weekend will be attributed to the low mentioned above, but the rain expected next week will be the result of a cold front that will slowly march through the Commonwealth. The rain may be heavy at times on both Sunday and Monday so there is a concern for flooding.  By Monday the rainy weekend will have set the table for the flooding possibilities Monday. Be prepared to deal with soggy weather for the next several days.

The chance for rain continues into the middle of next week as the pattern remains wet. The rain will be more showery than stormy Tuesday and Wednesday, but any rain at that point will runoff quickly and lead to at least some minor flooding.

A dry pattern may develop by next Thursday, but until then, get ready for the soggy scenario.
