Showers linger for a while tonight as the winds relax a bit. Still a bit breezy tonight as we continue to monitor the cooler air that is on the way for Saturday. The overnight lows will be in the 30s and 40s and once again there is a Freeze Warning in place for Pocahontas and Highland counties early Saturday morning.
Saturday looks to be on the quiet side as there will be an exodus of the clouds and rain overnight and partly cloudy skies remain. The persistent feature will still be in play as the mercury in the thermometer will only reach the middle 60s at best. I do expect to see more clouds than sun, but I also expect some breezy conditions.
Sunday looks to introduce us to more clouds and there is a slight chance for rain to arrive. The better opportunity for rain is over the NRV and Highlands while the rest of the area will see mostly cloudy skies. Some models keep the rain off the grid, so we may just be dealing with mostly cloudy skies. Slightly warmer but still about 3 – 5 degrees below normal.
Monday is being advertised as the rainy and stormy day, the models are not quite in sync with each other, but rain is on the way. Storms are also in the offing as well and I believe the temps will push above 70, but not much above. The widespread nature of the storms is still in question, but I expect a good watering of the lawns on Monday.
Tuesday and Wednesday will dry us out a bit with mostly sunny skies and temps in the upper 60s.
Happy Mothers Day.
