The region will be dry and mild Friday as we keep an eye on the shield of showers that will be migrating north from the Carolinas.

The area of low pressure that will provide the showers Saturday will be the first phase of what will be part of a larger scenario that will impact us for several days.

The low off the coast of the Carolinas will give the southern tier of the region rain Saturday, so keep the rain gear handy.

The showers are expected to linger off and on over the Memorial Day Weekend.

On another note, the Climate Prediction Center in concert with the National Hurricane Center has issued their prognosis for the upcoming hurricane season.

Looks like an average season, but they have cast a wide net.

Bottom line, it is now time to start thinking about the summer season and what plans you need to put in place to keep your family safe in the event of a tropical event.
