We are looking picture-perfect across Southwest Virginia this Saturday! We have plenty of sunshine, pleasant temperatures, and low humidity in place. Enjoy!
If you’re headed out to view any fireworks this evening, expect temperatures to fall into the 60s after sunset in most areas. It may feel a bit cool for some with temperatures cooling to the low to mid 60s before midnight. You may want to take along a light sweater depending on your temperament. Splendid viewing conditions can be expected as we’ll have mostly clear skies overhead.
The nice weather continues for Independence Day. However, temperatures will climb higher. Look for seasonable highs in the mid to upper 80s Sunday afternoon. Any shower chances look to be spotty and to our north and east.
Sunday evening will be another nice one for viewing fireworks with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies and mild evening temperatures.
Heat and humidity rise again Monday through Wednesday. Highs in the 90s return for the first half of the work week.
We’ll be watching closely the forecast track for Elsa over the coming days. As of now, tropical moisture associated with Elsa may increase our chances for scattered storms beginning late Wednesday, with rain more likely Thursday.
While whatever is left of Elsa is forecast to move away from the region by Friday, we may still be dealing with scattered showers and storms developing with the heating of the day ahead of a front to our northwest Friday afternoon.
Forecast for the latter half of next week is subject to change and is dependent upon the track of Elsa which may change in the coming days. Stay tuned for updates!
