ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — An area of high pressure will continue to bring quiet weather to Southwest and Central Virginia for the middle of the week.
Wednesday will feature a variable mix of sun and clouds. You may want the light jacket this morning as temperatures start in the cool mid-40s and into the mid-50s. By the afternoon, high temperatures will be in the mild 70s. A few spots may reach the 80-degree mark.

A cold front will pass through Thursday, but little moisture will accompany the front. A few spotty showers may develop in the mountains. Otherwise, the day will be mostly dry and variably cloudy. Afternoon temperatures will be in the lower and middle 70s.

Friday looks drier with partly cloudy skies overhead. The slightly cooler-than-average temperatures will remain in the forecast with afternoon highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

A storm system along the East Coast may bring some rain showers to Southwest and Central Virginia during the Memorial Day weekend. The position of the system will determine how much rain the region sees, so there will be some changes to the forecast as we approach the weekend.

For now, occasional rain showers are slated for late Saturday and Sunday with mostly cloudy skies overhead. Afternoon temperatures will be in the 60s and lower 70s.
