Pinpoint Weather: Much cooler Sunday as a dry pattern sets up; milder temperatures in store for next week

Weather Blog

Welcome to Sunday!

Skies will be generally sunny across the region today.

It will also be noticeably cooler with highs in the 40s and 50s.

We can expect breezy conditions off-and-on through the day – mainly west of the Blue Ridge. Those winds will start to subside during the afternoon and continuing through into the evening.

Winds will be on the lighter side overnight as temperatures fall back into the 20s in most areas.

Starting the week, mostly sunny skies will continue on Monday and Tuesday as highs warm into the mid and upper 50s in the mountains to the lower 60s further east.

By Wednesday, we expect some clouds to start moving into the area with temperatures likely a degree or two cooler.

As we head into Thursday, we could be looking at a slight chance for a few rain showers possible in the mountains. Otherwise, a mix of clouds and sunshine can be expected. Highs will likely be the warmest of the next seven on Thursday as highs will largely top out into the 60s – possibly near 70 east of the Blue Ridge.

Some rain showers could be a bit more widespread over the area on Friday. While we do need the rain, right now it doesn’t look like it’s going to be an overly impactful rainfall event. Some may see some showers, others may not. Friday also looks slightly cooler.

We could see a few showers possibly lingering into next weekend with a bit of a gradual cool-down expected.
