Pinpoint Weather: Mountain wintry mix and rain early, then clearing and windy

Weather Blog

It’s a cold start to this Monday with precipitation moving in from the west. Take the umbrella with you this morning as you head out the door.

Roads may be dry early this morning, but rain and a wintry mix are set to move across the region for much of the morning. Areas most favored to see any snow and/or ice accumulation will be along and north of I-64 this morning.

Winter Weather Advisory through early afternoon for along and north of I-64. As much as 1 to 3″ of snow accumulation is possible. Some freezing rain could lead to a glazing of ice in these areas also. Plan for slick travels in the advised counties.

Also, along the crest of the Blue Ridge, some slick spots may form briefly this morning before a transition to all rain south of I-64.

Clearing skies can be expected for the afternoon with highs managing the upper 40s to lower 50s.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be even milder with temperatures warming into the mid 50s and even 60s midweek for some.

Another wintry mix is back in the forecast for Friday.
