ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A dry and mild Tuesday is in store for Southwest and Central Virginia.

High pressure will continue to influence our forecast through the middle of the week. Winds may gust up to 20 mph at times. Otherwise, quiet weather is expected Tuesday and Wednesday with a variable mix of sun and clouds overhead. Morning temperatures will start in the cool 50s and afternoon highs will be in the 70s.

A cold front will pass through Wednesday night, but little moisture will accompany the front. A few spotty showers may develop west of the Blue Ridge Thursday. Otherwise, the day will be mostly dry and variably cloudy. Thursday’s high temperatures will be in the lower and middle 70s.

Friday looks drier with mostly to partly cloudy skies overhead. Temperatures will trend cooler with afternoon highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

A storm system may bring some rain showers to Southwest and Central Virginia during the Memorial Day weekend. The position of the system will determine how much rain the region sees, so there will be some changes to the forecast as we approach the weekend. Skies will be variably cloudy with highs in the 60s and 70s.
