Pinpoint Weather: Isolated showers and storms this afternoon

Weather Blog

Grab the jacket again this morning as temperatures are in the 30s and 40s to start this Friday. While it’s not as cold as yesterday morning, it is definitely a chilly start to the day.

This afternoon, an upper level disturbance may trigger a few showers and an isolated storm or two over the mountains. Any showers and storms that do develop will drift eastward into the Piedmont by late today before dissipating. Overall, most areas can expect to stay dry, especially east of the Parkway.

Today’s highs will be similar to yesterday, lower to mid 60s and upper 60s to lower 70s from west to east across Southwest Virginia. Below-average temperatures will continue into the weekend. Temperatures will continue to warm with each day, eventually reaching the lower 80s by late in the week next week.

Saturday looks dry with scattered showers possible by late in the day Sunday. Rain is likely Monday with showers likely and a few storms possible.
