It’s a comfortably cool start to the day on this Wednesday with temperatures generally in the 50s and 60s. While some patchy fog is possible west of the Parkway, most areas will not encounter reduced visibilities due to fog during the morning commute.
Today’s highs will be in the 70s in the mountains to around 80 across the Piedmont.
Later today, a few showers are possible, mainly west of the Parkway. However, with the heating of the day, a few rumbles of thunder will be possible across more of the region. Most areas can expect to stay dry this afternoon.
Showers will be become more numerous tonight, especially in the mountains, ahead of our next storm system.
Thursday, scattered showers are possible early with increasing storm chances during the afternoon. Some of the storms may be strong to severe. Any storm that becomes severe tomorrow will pose the main threat of damaging winds. Heavy downpours can be expected also. And at this time, an isolated tornado can not be completely ruled out.
Off and on showers will linger into early Friday with some clearing by late in the day.
