Pinpoint Weather: Humid with scattered showers and storms, some strong to severe, Friday

Weather Blog

Some patchy fog, but no rain, may hinder the morning commute in spots.

The stalled front will waver across Southwest VA through much of today before making a final push to the southeast as a weak cold front. Similar to yesterday, scattered to numerous showers and storms can be expected this afternoon into this evening.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of Southwest VA in a marginal risk for severe weather for this afternoon and into this evening. Today’s main threat with any storm that becomes severe will be damaging wind gusts.

Although we should see a little less in terms coverage with today’s storms, any of the stronger storms will also be capable of heavy downpours that could lead to localized flooding.

After sunset, scattered showers and storms will subside.

Thanks to high pressure, drier and warmer weather settles in for the weekend.

Stay safe and healthy.
