ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Stay cool and safe in the summer heat as the hot and muggy weather persists across Southwest and Central Virginia.
An area of high pressure continues to filter in warm moist air into the region. The heat and humidity will be a concern Tuesday since high temperatures will range anywhere from the mid-80s and into the mid-90s. Remember to stay safe when working or playing outside in the heat.
Otherwise, there will be some passing clouds and plenty of sunshine Tuesday. Rain chances are low, but a stray shower or storm cannot be totally ruled out.
Wednesday will be warm and muggy. High temperatures will be a few degrees warmer in some spots, so heat safety remains a priority. However, a few showers and storms may develop later in the day. This will begin the shift in the region’s weather pattern
Scattered showers and storms will develop ahead of a cold front Thursday. While some rain may occur during the morning, there will be better coverage for the afternoon and evening. Due to the humid air in place, showers and storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall. Since the wet weather is expected to continue into the beginning of the weekend, localized flooding may become a concern.
