The stormy pattern that was persistent through the Piedmont today will return again on Friday. The heat will be oppressive once again as the mercury in the thermometer will reach the middle 90s in most areas east of the Foothills.

There is another round of storms slated for the afternoon Friday as a cold front moves through.

The front will be the feature that scours out all the heat and humidity but may also, in the process, fire up a few strong storms. The Storm Prediction Center is expecting to see severe weather in the region with gusty winds and hail as the main issue.

The Temperatures will be noticeably cooler over the weekend after the front slides past Friday. Highs on Saturday will be in the low 80s with some NRV locations only hitting the middle 70s and the highlands in the low 70s.

Expect more of the same on Father’s Day with the temperatures in the 80s.

Nice to get a break from the heat for the weekend, but don’t get too used to it, more oppressive heat is on the way by the middle of next week.
