Skies will remain mainly clear during the night, but overnight temperatures will, once again, return to the frigid 20s. If you’ve already started your garden, make sure to bring potted plants indoors or cover your plants to protect them from the cold. You’ll also want to bring in your pets, as well.
An area of high pressure will build into the region over the weekend. For Saturday, the weather will be dry and sunny. After a cold start to the day, we can expect a more spring-like afternoon with highs in the upper 50s and 60s. These temperatures, though, are still below average for this time of year. Overnight temperatures will still be chilly, but not as cold. Lows will be in the 30s and upper 20s.
More sunshine is in the forecast for Easter Sunday and the warming trend will continue. Afternoon temperatures will make their way into the mild 60s and 70s. This will mark the return of above-average temperatures in Southwest and Central Virginia.
The dry and mild weather pattern will persist through the beginning of next week. For Monday and Tuesday, afternoon highs will be in the upper 60s and 70s while nighttime lows will be in the 40s.
Our next chance for rain in Southwest and Central Virginia could occur later in the upcoming week.
