Pinpoint Weather: First Day of Spring will be very “Spring-like”

Weather Blog

The Vernal Equinox was today at 5:37 EDT as the direct rays of the sun were over the equator. It is the beginning of the astronomical spring. The calendar and the position of the Earth with respect to the sun say “spring” but sometimes they don’t coincide with each other, today they will, as it will feel very spring-like.

The entire weekend looks nice and the skies will be sunny each day over the next three so the pleasant conditions will continue into Monday. Normal high for this time of year is around 60 and that is about where most of us will be today and Sunday. Take a nice walk, hit the park, go for a bike ride or a hike, but get outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Sunday will be slightly warmer than Saturday and the winds will be a bit more relaxed. The need for the sunglasses continues to be a requirement and the need for only a light jacket will be likely. Highs will be above normal by a couple degrees as we experience our first full day of spring.

Monday will see more of the same as high pressure is parked overhead. The center of the high will be a bit east so we will start to manifest a weak wedge of cool air in the region. Overall, the pattern will remain dry and the temps about normal.

Tuesday starts the change as there will be an introduction of cloud cover and there is a slight chance for some light rain before midnight. The rain will more than likely fall after sunset so Tuesday should be dry.

Wednesday looks to provide us with some light rain off and on as we get a chance to naturally water our lawns and plants. An unsettled pattern looks to start on Wednesday and linger into the end of the work week.

For now, enjoy the dry and cool weather.
