(WFXR) — Dry weather is anticipated for the next several days. However, it will feel more like summer than fall as we head later into the week.
The wedge that kept much of Southwest and Central Virginia cloudy Monday is still in place for Tuesday. We’ll start the morning with some cloud cover and patchy fog. There may be partial clearing during the afternoon hours, allowing some sunshine to peek through. Despite the clouds in place, it will be mild for this time of year. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the upper 70s in the Roanoke Valley, Central Virginia, and Southside. The New River Valley and Alleghany Highlands will have highs in the low to mid-70s.
For the next few days, an area of high pressure will build into the Mid-Atlantic. While this system will keep us relatively dry, it will also result in a warming trend through the end of the workweek.
Patchy morning fog is slated for Wednesday. Otherwise, expect a mix of sun and clouds with high temperatures ranging from the upper 70s and into the middle 80s.
Temperatures will remain about 10-15 degrees above average for Thursday and Friday. Some locations will experience near-record warmth as high temperatures top out in the upper 70s and 80s.
A cold front will pass through Southwest and Central Virginia on Saturday. Mountain rain showers are possible early Saturday, but the bulk of the spotty showers is slated to move through during the afternoon. Winds will pick up ahead of the front and high temperatures will be in the 70s. Once the front sweeps through, we’ll start to notice a difference in our temperatures and humidity levels.
Temperatures will be closer to the seasonal average Sunday and into the beginning of next week. Both Sunday and Monday will be fall-like with mostly sunny skies overhead and highs in the 60s and lower 70s. Chilly mornings will also return to the region. Temperatures will be in the 40s and upper 30s Monday morning.
