Welcome to the weekend!
For late-summer, we really couldn’t be looking at a better start to the weekend. Humidity levels will still be on the comfortable side with Mostly Sunny skies on Saturday. Highs will range from the 70s in the mountains to the lower 80s east of the Blue Ridge.
We’ll have another nice night on Saturday night, but it won’t be quite as cool as clear skies can be expected with lows in the 50s to near 60.
On Sunday, we’ll continue to be dry and sunny but temperatures will be much warmer. We’re looking at lower and middle 80s in the mountains and into the lower 90s further east. The humidity will also be a bit more noticeable – not oppressive, just a tad bit more humid.
Hot conditions continue into early next week. We’ll continue the trend of highs into the 80s in the mountains and into the lower and even middle 90s in the east through Wednesday.
By Thursday, we will have a cold front approaching which will bring in the clouds along with a chance for a few showers during the day. A few thunderstorms will also be possible. Highs will drop back a few degrees into the upper 70s to the lower 80s in the mountains and into the upper 80s to near 90 east of the Blue Ridge.
Friday looks to be a bit unsettled as well with a few showers, maybe a storm or two possible with high temperatures losing a degree or two from Thursday – in the mid 70s to near 80 in the mountains and into the mid 80s elsewhere.
The tropics are heating up with a few areas of interest.
The one closest to home is in the Bay of Campeche east of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center says there is an 80 percent chance of development here in the coming days. A possible tropical system could develop and move into Texas next week bringing a decent amount of rain there.
There’s also an area just off the coast of Africa that has a 70 percent chance of developing through mid-week next week. This system is well out to sea and we have plenty of time to watch its progress.
Enjoy the weekend!
