(WFXR). The above-normal temperatures and dry pattern will be changing to a cooler and wetter regime.  This process will begin tonight as clouds move in ahead of the rainy and stormy weather slated for Friday.

The rain Friday will begin in the morning and linger off and on throughout the day. This will dramatically reduce our warming capabilities so temperatures will be about 10 – 12 degrees cooler Friday than Thursday.

The rain will be mingled with some thunderstorms late in the day and some of the storms may become strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center has placed a portion of the viewing area in a Marginal risk for severe storms, with wind and hail being the main issues.

The rain should taper off after sunset but we will be looking at a relatively rainy and cloudy weekend.

Skies on Saturday will be cloudy and a few light showers may make it to the ground.

Sunday a cold front moves through and we have another chance to get some rain and isolated thunderstorms.

A cooler pattern takes hold of the Commonwealth Monday through the middle of the week.
