Dropping below normal over the weekend as the mild pattern is replaced with a brisk and chilly one. Friday will be a sunny and mild with highs in the middle 60s, so even after the cold front pushed through with all the rain Friday morning, the air mass basically returned to near normal temperature-wise. That will be changing this weekend.
Saturday looks to be on the brisk side, mainly in the mountains and foothills, with gusts near 25 mph to accompany the chilly air. Highs will only be in the middle 50s and some low 40s west of the foothills. Some clouds will be present and there is a slight chance for some snow to fall on west facing slopes in the Alleghany Highlands, but not much else.
Sunday continues the cool pattern with plenty of sunshine. Winds will relax a bit but the overall theme of the weekend will be sunny and cooler.
Monday should stay dry as the mercury in the thermometer dips well below normal. Highs are likely to be in the 30s and 40s so it is time to make sure you have sorted out your heating situation. Check your heating systems and clear and or clean your chimney and be mindful to keep anything flammable away from any space heaters. Snow is possible again in the Highlands Monday, but not much more than an inch or so.
The rest of the week should be a bit milder ending with temps in the 60s by the middle of the week.
