It was a breezy and dry day across Southwest and Central Virginia.
While the region has experienced highs in the 70s and 80s over the past few days, it is noticeably cooler outside today with afternoon high in the 60s in the Roanoke Valley, Central Virginia, and Southside. The Alleghany Highlands and New River Valley had highs in the mid to upper 50s. These high temperatures are slightly below average for the middle of April.
Breezy winds will stick around into the evening hours. Skies will range from partly cloudy to mostly clear. Expect overnight lows to be in the chilly mid to upper 30s and low 40s. There may be an issue with light patchy frost early Friday morning in areas with lighter winds.
It will still be breezy at times for Friday. Otherwise, it will be a dry day with a variable mix of clouds and sunshine. High temperatures will be similar to Thursday’s highs. Some clouds will build Friday evening as temperatures fall into the mid to upper 30s and low 40s by the overnight hours.
Slight rain chances return to the forecast for the weekend ahead. It won’t be a washout scenario, and many will stay dry, but keep in mind that a few spotty light rain showers are possible during the day Saturday. Skies will generally be mostly cloudy and afternoon high temperatures will be in the upper 50s and low to mid 60s.
There is a very slim chance for rain Sunday. While more sunshine is in the forecast for Sunday when compared to Saturday, there will still be passing clouds. Winds will be breezy and high temperatures will be a couple of degrees warmer than Saturday’s highs.
