Other than some spotty light rain on its way out of the region, it should be a dry morning commute for most on this Friday.
Behind a passing cold front, winds are picking up and cooler air is moving in. Although temperatures this morning are on the mild side, this afternoon’s highs will be noticeably cooler compared to recent days. Look for seasonable highs in the 70s.
Winds will be quite gusty for much of the day. Expect gusts anywhere from 35 to 50 mph east of the Parkway with gusts to 55 mph possible in the mountains.
With the dry conditions and strong winds, outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Dry fuel on the ground and strong winds will allow any fire that ignites to grow out of control rapidly.
Less wind is forecast Saturday.
