ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The cooler temperatures persist across Southwest and Central Virginia Monday with a few showers possible during the day.
Grab a coat or jacket as you head out the door Monday morning; temperatures will start in the chilly 30s and 40s. A weak disturbance will cause increasing cloudiness over the region with some rain showers possible. Afternoon temperatures will reach the cooler-than-average 50s and 60s.

More sunshine is in the forecast for Tuesday. Morning temperatures will generally start in the 40s with afternoon highs reaching the slightly milder 60s and lower 70s. Wednesday will be much of the same with a mix of sun and clouds overhead.

Thursday is anticipated to be the warmest day of the week with afternoon temperatures reaching the 70s. Rain chances will creep upward Thursday night as a low-pressure system over the Gulf Coast spreads moisture northward into North Carolina.

The chance of rain increases late Friday into Saturday as a front impacts the region. Scattered showers will have the chance to move through with highs reaching the 60s and lower 70s. Much cooler weather is expected by Sunday.
