With the increase in cloud cover over the past 12 hours, temperatures did not drop as much overnight as in previous nights. It’s a milder start to your Thursday with temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
As for this morning’s commute, some patchy fog may slow your travels, especially in mountain valleys and along any rivers.
This afternoon, look for cloudy skies and cooler highs. Expect highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s from west to east across Southwest VA. By the way, the average high for this time of year in Roanoke is 76 degrees.
As the remnants of Beta move in from the southwest, rain chances will gradually increase through today, mainly for the New River Valley and Southside.
While a few showers are possible late today for our southernmost counties, better rain chances will occur after sunset and into Friday.
Off and on showers can be expected Friday before tapering off to just a few spotty showers during the afternoon.
Stay safe and healthy.
