Pinpoint Weather: A sunny and cooler afternoon this Friday

Weather Blog

As a front moves east across the region, spotty showers will continue to move east and taper off by daybreak. Also, some patchy fog will be possible in the mountains and river valleys.

Morning temperatures are in the 40s and 50s, so a jacket or sweater is suggested.

Decreasing clouds through this morning will lead to sunny skies for many by afternoon. Despite plenty of sunshine, cooler air behind the passing front will only allow temperatures to warm into the 60s across much of Southwest VA.

Tonight, some areas may drop into the upper 30s by morning. Patchy frost will be possible, especially in any of the higher terrain.

Weekend highs will be, generally, in the 60s. By the way, average high for this time of year in Roanoke is 73 degrees now.

Another chance for a few showers arrives late Sunday with another front.

Stay safe and healthy.
