Dry and sunny start to the week, rain slated early Wednesday

Weather Blog

Little impacts are in the forecast for the next couple of days. There will be plenty of sun for Southwest Virginia. Afternoon high temperatures will be slightly above average with temperatures rising into the lower to mid 50s. Low 60s are possible east of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The quiet weather continues into the evening with little to no cloud cover expected.

Tuesday will be relatively dry as well, but clouds will start to increase during the afternoon. Skies will become mostly cloudy for the evening hours as a cold front approaches the area. A bit of moisture will move through overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. This will be a mainly rain event and it won’t last all day Wednesday. Roads will be rain-slick during the morning hours. Drive carefully during your holiday commute.

The Thanksgiving holiday will be dry, but cooler air will filter into the area. Temperatures will be slightly below average, in the upper 40s/low 50s for the afternoon. It will be breezy as well, so hold on tight to those pies!

Little impacts are expected for those shopping on Black Friday, but the weather will become unsettled as we head into the weekend.
