As it’s been the last couple of days, temperatures and dew points are starting in the 60s and low 70s this morning. It won’t be quite as hot today as it’s been the last couple of days but it will still be quite warm and humid with highs in the 80s to near 90°. Air temps will be a little slower to rise today as well but will likely still be close to or slightly above 80° by lunch time in spots. A weak front is still lingering nearby to our east and there’s another disturbance moving through the Ohio Valley, the two will be the catalysts for another round of scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Most of the storms should still just be your garden variety summer storms with some gusty winds and heavy rain but there’s some potential for a couple of storms to push toward the strong or severe levels. Friday and the weekend are looking pretty good with high pressure building in but still a chance for a spotty afternoon shower trying to pop up in eastern portions of Southside Friday afternoon. Saturday will be sunny and hot with highs in the low and mid-90s and humid. The chance for showers will return to the area Sunday afternoon and we’ll continue with the chance for showers each afternoon thru the first half of the new week.
It’s still that time of year that I need to remind folks to please, NEVER leave your kids or pets in the car. The interior of your car will heat up extremely quickly and reach dangerous, if not deadly, levels in a very short period of time. If you want to take the dog for a car ride than make it a dedicated ride for them, don’t stop for groceries or to pick something up. It only takes a few minutes for the temperature in your vehicle to reach those dangerous levels. If you have a small child be sure you double check the back seat when you get out.
