The hottest weekend of the year is here

Heat Advisory in Place today for portions of the viewing area

Hot conditions are expected to continue today as the dome of high pressure drifts overhead.  The mercury in the thermometer is expected to rise into the middle to upper 90s this afternoon placing us into dangerous territory.  Factor in the humidity and it will feel much more like 100 to 108.  The National Weather Service has placed Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, Charlotte, Halifax and Pittsylvania counties under the Heat advisory, including Bedford, Lynchburg and Danville from noon until 8pm.  An Excessive Heat Warning is in place for the area around Virginia Beach.  We are mired in a very hot pattern, please stay hydrated.

The heat and humidity will continue into the weekend as Saturday may be even hotter than Friday.  Sunday will be the beginning of the end to the 90s but it will still be in the 90s, but that may be the last day.

Rain is slated off and on over the weekend, but nothing too well organized until late Monday and more specifically Tuesday.

Stay safe, follow all the safety tips we have been giving you and if you don’t have to go outside and can stay cool indoors, that would be a good idea.

Keep an eye on your pets and look before you lock… so you won’t leave kids or pets in any vehicles.
