While most of Southwest Virginia will stay dry today, a few showers can be expected, primarily along and west of I-81 this afternoon.
Please be mindful of local creeks, streams, and rivers that may continue to run high. Always adhere to road closures and never attempt to drive around a barricade. The water may be deep enough to stall your engine or even float your vehicle. Turn around, don’t drown.
While many rivers continue to run high, a few remain above flood stage and are not forecast to fall below flood stage until later in the week. River Flood Warnings are ongoing for the Dan River and Staunton River.
Tuesday looks partly cloudy for Roanoke southward and mostly sunny for our most northern counties.
Rain looks more widespread and heavy at times mid to late week. Any of the showers or storms could bring heavy downpours that could renew or exacerbate any localized flooding issues.
Also, strong, gusty winds with any of the stronger storms could down any trees due to the still saturated soils.
Stay safe and healthy.
