WFXR partners with Red Cross to support disaster relief efforts

Safety in the Storm

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Communities are still reeling after Hurricane Ida made landfall in Louisiana last Sunday as a Category 4 storm with extremely powerful winds. It traveled from the Gulf Coast to the Northeast, generating floods and tornadoes along the way.

Ida left its mark in southwest Virginia, as well, bringing heavy rain and extensive flash flooding in Buchanan County.

Nexstar Media, WFXR’s parent company, and the American Red Cross are partnering to raise money to help people whose lives have turned upside down because of storms, floods, and countless other crises.

Any contribution you make will not only assist with immediate needs like food and shelter but will also help people get on the path to recovery and guide communities in disaster preparation.

If you want to donate to the American Red Cross, just click here. You can donate to people affected by Hurricane Ida, generic disaster relief, your local Red Cross programs and services, or the humanitarian efforts that need it the most.
