UPDATE: Power crews continue to restore power to customers who have been left in the dark due to strong storms Monday evening

UPDATE 11:15 p.m.: Crews are still out-and-about to restore power to those customers who were knocked out from earlier storms.

As of 11:15 p.m., here are the outage numbers:

  • Henry County: 497
  • Amherst County: 100
  • Campbell County: 52
  • Mercer County: 52

Other outages involve less than 20 customers who are still in the dark. Those locations include the counties of Bedford, Franklin, Pittsylvania and Giles as well as the cities of Roanoke and Lynchburg.


UPDATE 10:55 p.m.: Power crews are continuing their efforts to restore power to those who have been left in the dark due to strong storms.

As of 10:55 p.m., here are the outage numbers:

  • Henry County: 533
  • Amherst County: 234
  • Campbell County: 52
  • Mercer County, WV: 52

Other outages involve less than 20 customers still in the dark. Those counties include Bedford, Franklin, Giles and Pittsylvania.


UPDATE 8:50 p.m.: Appalachian Power crews are working to restore power to customers left without power due to storms that continue to push through the eastern part of the region.

As of 8:50 p.m., here are the outage numbers:

  • Amherst County: 234
  • Henry County: 226
  • Campbell County: 52
  • Wythe County: 30

There are a few more very isolated outages across parts of the region.


UPDATE 8:00 p.m.: Power outages continue coming in as severe weather is contributing to power being knocked out in parts of the region.

As of 8 p.m., here are the outage numbers.

  • Campbell County: 1,980
  • Lynchburg: 655
  • Amherst County: 234
  • Henry County: 226
  • Mercer County: 179

(WFXR) – We’re monitoring power outages due to strong and severe thunderstorms that are moving through the region.

As of 7:30, there are just under 4,000 customers on AEP’s grid that are without power. Many of those are around the Timberlake section of Campbell County.

  • Campbell County: 1,978
  • Lynchburg: 655
  • Mercer County, WV: 178
  • Amherst County: 143
  • Henry County: 128

The rest of the outages are sporadic through the New River Valley.

The total outages on AEP’s grid also include counties around the Charleston, West Virginia area where storms passed through earlier today.
