Pinpoint Weather: Widespread rain moves out, but flooding concerns remain.

Widespread rain moves out but flooding concerns continue across parts of the region Friday.

While the bulk of the rain has moved out this morning, some area creeks, streams, and rivers are still running high.  Never attempt to drive across water-covered roads as you can not tell how deep the water is.  The road underneath could even be washed out.

River Flood Warnings are ongoing for the Dan, New, James, Roanoke River in Roanoke, Staunton River and The Pigg River.

Scattered showers and storms are expected this afternoon.  Some of the stronger storms could bring heavy downpours that could lead to some localized flooding. Also, strong, gusty winds with any of this afternoon’s stronger storms could down any trees due to the saturated soils from the recent rains.

This weekend will be warmer with highs in the 80s.  There’s a chance for a few showers and storms Saturday and Sunday.

Stay safe and healthy.
