UPDATE 4:40 p.m. (6/18/22): The National Weather Service’s Blacksburg radar has been restored.

They say the earlier outage was due to a power supply that had failed. This has since been restored which has allowed the radar to resume scanning.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The National Weather Service (NWS) Blacksburg radar site went down Friday morning.

According to NWS Blacksburg, the outage happened at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 17.

WFXR News reached out to NWS Blacksburg about when the site will be back up and running, they released this statement below:

“Our radar system failed. The power supply needs to be prepared and that’s not expected to happen until tomorrow because we need the parts from Kansas City, Missouri.”
