Cooler weekend with periods of rain.

Weather

Cooling down over the weekend, rain showers off and on

The mild pattern that the region has enjoyed for the past few days is coming to an end. Saturday will be about 15 degrees cooler, which is about where we should be for this time of year.  The normal high temperature for the middle of March is around the 57° mark, and that is about where the forecast high is for Saturday.

Saturday will bring with it some clouds along with some sunshine.  This is easily referred to as “variably cloudy” as the sun plays “peek-a-boo” from behind the clouds.  As the day moves along, I do expect to see more clouds than sunshine and we have a chance for some rain showers to arrive before the end of the day.  The timing is always one of the more difficult aspects of forecasting, but the models all seem to point to an afternoon shower that will linger overnight. That leads us into Sunday.

Sunday looks to start out with some light rain and end up with a mix of clouds and sun.  The cooler air from the northwest is slated to overtake the region Sunday, so look for highs to top out well below normal.  Highs are expected to be in the upper 40s on Sunday even with some late day peeks of sunshine.

Monday will be slightly warmer but not much. I am expecting the clouds to be more prevalent than the sunshine. Tuesday will see the return of more showers as next week will be another week best described as a week with periods of rain.  Warmer pattern is also expected to return next week.

Spring begins on the 19th this year as the vernal equinox occurs at 11:49 pm. According to the Farmers Almanac, this is the earliest equinox in over 100 years. The last time the equinox was on the 19th of March was 1896.

Stay Safe.
