Pinpoint Weather: A cooler week ahead, a touch of winter for some

On this last day of October (Happy Halloween!), we'll have temperatures a good 10 degrees below where they should be in most areas. Highs in the 50s (maybe sticking with the 40s in the mountains) can be expected with some sunshine peaking through the clouds.

Into Saturday night, clouds will increase with areas of showers becoming likely after midnight. Showers will continue into the morning hours on Sunday, though the showers could linger into the afternoon in the mountains of the Highlands and the NRV. We'll also notice the wind increasing through the day which will compound a feel closer to winter. To make matters worse, there could be some flurries or snow showers along the western slopes Sunday night into early Monday morning - enough that some locations (Quinwood, Rupert and Rainelle in western Greenbrier County) could see a dusting to in upwards of an inch of snow possible.

Pinpoint Weather: Sunny, dry and chilly weather on Halloween in Western Virginia

Today, Halloween, will be sunny and chilly with highs only topping out in the upper 40s to low 50s. Winds will be noticeable but not overpowering. The dry pattern will allow some of the rivers and streams that have been running fast and full from Zeta to lower and slow down. Still some muddy pockets out there so make sure to wear your boots if you head outside and wipe off your dog’s paws when they come back in from the yard or a walk.

Halloween evening will be on the chilly side.
