BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team beat the University of Virginia 69-52 at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg Tuesday afternoon. Coach Kenny Brooks and his squad are now 5-1 in ACC play for the first time in program history. Hokies center Elizabeth Kitley scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds, while guard Kayana Traylor finished the night with 17 points. According to Coach Brooks it was the little things they kept the game close.

“I didn’t think we did the small things today. I thought we were a little bit disjointed we didn’t play as well as we could’ve together. I thought we tried to do it by ourselves sometimes and then we weren’t connected on the defensive end like we had been previously like we were last week against Duke,” said Brooks.

The Hokies held Virginia to 52 points, the fewest they’ve allowed in conference play. Virginia Tech is now 13-4 on the season. Next the Hokies face ACC rival Pittsburgh in Blacksburg at Cassell Coliseum, tipoff is at 8 p.m.
