LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – On Monday July 4th the third annual Ronnie Roberts Senior Classic returns to Bank of the James Stadium.

The tournament is named in honor of former Lynchburg Hillcats general manager Ronnie Roberts, will feature local high school baseball players from the Seminole and Dogwood districts.

For President & General Manager of the Hillcats Chris Jones, the tournament is all about giving these high school athletes one last time to shine.

“We saw the success in 2020 when we did it on the 4th of July this is the first year we haven’t had a Hillcats game on the 4th of July in 35 years and we couldn’t think of a better way to send these kids off to college or whatever their future holds and their last at bat is in front of the community in one of the big stadiums on one of the biggest days of the year.”

The Ronnie Roberts Senior Classic kicks off on July 4th at Bank of the James Stadium. The even begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by a fireworks display after the game.
