LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — At E.C. Glass High School, signing day festivities had to take place in the gym instead of the Hall of Fame room in order to accommodate the seven athletes committing to schools on Wednesday.

Of the seven, six were football players.

Holden Fretz joins the family at the University of Charleston-West Virginia while Xavius Hager will play football at West Virginia State. Dre’Sean Kendrick officially put pen to paper to commit to William and Mary, just three days after making his verbal commitment public in a separate ceremony.

Jadan Merriman signed his letter of intent to play at Glenville State while Tyler Paige will head down to Danville to play for Averett. Robert BJ Wheat will stay in Lynchburg to play for the Liberty Flames.

The lone non-football athlete to commit on Wednesday was swimmer Ellisa Eckert who will take her talents to the Division I pool at Gardner-Webb.
