BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Fans of Virginia Tech and West Virginia University football will have to cheer from their couches because tickets for the September game at Lane Stadium are completely sold out, according to Virginia Tech Athletics.

On Thursday, Aug. 11, Virginia Tech announced that the Sept. 22 football game is completely sold out. School officials say this will be the first time the Mountaineers have played at Lane Stadium since 2004.

In addition to the VT versus WVU sellout, Virginia Tech Athletics says student season tickets, additional premium seating areas, West side indoor and outdoor club season tickets, and South End Zone club season tickets have also sold out.

Athletics officials say that Virginia Tech students without season passes are encouraged to enter the ticket lottery two weeks before each home game for single game tickets.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, which happens to be the 28-year anniversary of Hokie football’s first ever Thursday night game, which was also against West Virginia University.

Virginia Tech Athletics says Hokie fans can still order customizable mini-plans in three or four-game packages starting at $180.

The Hokies are set to kick off the season at Old Dominion University on Friday, Sept. 2. The first home game is set for Saturday, Sept. 10 against ACC’s Boston College.
