SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – On Monday, the Salem Red Sox announced the Salem Sox Cinema Series, which includes three screenings of holiday film favorites in a ballpark setting with the ballpark concession favorites.
According to a statement from the Salem Red Sox on Monday, Nov. 30, the event kicks off on Saturday, Dec. 5, with “Polar Express,” presented by Virginia Birth Father Registry.
There will also be a screening of “Elf” — presented by Metis — on Saturday, Dec. 12, before the Salem Sox Cinema Series wraps up with “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” — presented by Virginia Birth Father Registry — on Saturday, Dec. 19.
Join the Salem Red Sox and jump into the holiday season by celebrating with your friends and family at the ballpark,” the Salem Red Sox said.
Gates open are set to open at 4 p.m. before the move begins at 6 p.m. Even though admission is free, organizers say the Salem Red Sox will be collecting food donations at each event for Feeding America Southwest Virginia.
In addition, seating will be limited to 250 and suite availability is very limited due to current capacity restrictions. However, according to organizers, the Salem Red Sox are accepting reservations for suites — which guarantee admission for up to 10 guests and include waitress service, as well as indoor and outdoor seating — starting at $75.
“The Salem Red Sox are excited to welcome guests to the ballpark as we celebrate this holiday season in a safe, family-friendly environment,” said General Manager, Allen Lawrence. “We hope families will be able to join us to take their minds off this challenging year and make everlasting memories with loved ones.”
Monday’s statement says all statewide safety measures, distancing guidelines, and CDC recommendations will be followed. In addition, masks are strongly encouraged.
