Salem High School Names Berlyn Seitz the New Girls Varsity Basketball Coach

Salem, VA(WFXR)-Berlyn Seitz has been named the new Varsity Head Coach for the Girls Basketball program at Salem High School. Seitz most recently was a varsity assistant coach for the Franklin County Eagles, and she brings a wide range of experiences to her new post in Salem.

Seitz has coached girls high school basketball in both Rocky Mount and Bedford County, where she was a varsity assistant and JV head coach at Liberty High School. Her teams play hard nosed “man-to-man” defense, push the ball in transition and utilize a motion offense in their half courts sets.

The Fulton, Missouri native, who played her high school basketball at South Callaway High in Mokane, Missouri, graduated from Bridgewater College in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Sciences. During her time in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, she played basketball for the Eagles and head coach Jean Willi. Seitz also earned her Master of Education degree from fellow ODAC member University of Lynchburg in 2016.

She also has worked various basketball camps at Lynchburg and on the high school level. During her time at Liberty, Seitz also assisted with the varsity softball and volleyball teams.

The Salem School Board officially approved her appointment at this month’s meeting on Tuesday, May 12.
