PULASKI, Va. (WFXR) — Years of upgrades and renovations appears to be paying off at Pulaski’s Calfee Park.
Motor Mile Field earned the title of “Best Rookie-Level Ballpark in America” from Ball Park Digest after the home of the Pulaski Yankees won four rounds of head-to-head fan voting competitions against other rookie-level venues.
“We are so proud of this ballpark and what it offers to the town of Pulaski and to this community and just to see that recognized is not only on a local level but on a national level is just a really exciting,” general manager Betsy Haugh said.
The venue has undergone numerous projects included a renovated team clubhouse, a new visiting team clubhouse and upgrades to the concession stand, press box and souvenir store. Prior to this season, a three-tiered party deck and new boxes were added along the third base line, increasing the park’s capacity to 3,200.
“This ballpark has undergone some big changes over the last five years and nothing but improvements to it and seeing what we can add to the town and what we can do from an entertainment perspective,” Haugh said. “Just getting fans a good place to spend the summer evening. So we’re very excited for that and what it does for the community and just making it a great place for people to come and stay the night.”
Calfee Park defeated Elizabethton’s Joe O’Brien Field in the final round of voting, earning 72 percent of the fan votes.
