RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — Day two of the Washington Football Team training camp from Richmond. We shine the spotlight on a member of the defense. Former James Madison Dukes defensive back Jimmy Moreland is making an impact for Washington’s highly ranked defense. “Last year, going through the whole season, man, it was, it was boring, no fans, you can’t look up in the stands, but now, seeing the fans back around, being hyped, you know, it’s good. I feel much better. My, my main focus was just staying in shape, you know, getting a little bigger? You know, um, work on my technique lots more, you know, and just being me, you know, just staying on top of my game,” said Moreland. Moreland has been working against working against quarterbacks Ryan Fitzpatrick, Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen during camp. “They’ve been competing. They’ve been, um, focused on their game, you know, I can see they’ve been, um, in the, in the film room a lot, you know, being that FItzpatrick is an older man, he, he knows a lot, um, Heinicke and, um, Allen learning underneath him.,” said Moreland. Moreland says the expectations are high for the team in 2021. “They can expect, expect us to be back, back, you know, where we left off at, you know? We gotta, we got to work back to that point, but, you know, we, we’re trying to, we’re trying to take every game as one game at a time and, you know, trying to get back to the playoffs and hopefully do better than we did last year,” said Moreland. Moreland and Washington will go through 2-a-days Friday before Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday.
