HARRISONBURG, Va. (WFXR) — After 25 years of serving as James Madison University’s Athletic Director, Salem native Jeff Bourne announcing Friday he is stepping down from the role in the Spring of 2024. Bourne led the Dukes in their transition from FCS and the CAA to FBS and the Sun Belt Conference. JMU won a pair of FCS football national titles and a women’s lacrosse crown under his watch. Bourne served in several athletics roles at Virginia Tech from 1986-97 and was executive associate athletics director at Georgia Tech from 1997-99.
