ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs were in must win mode Monday night in the SPHL President’s Cup Finals at the Berglund Center. Roanoke defeated Peoria 4-3 to cut the Rivermen’s lead in the series to 2-1. Game 3 had a loud and proud crowd of nearly 4,600 fans in attendance. The 1st period of the game was scoreless. Then period 2 saw 6 goals with 3 from each team. Peoria took the lead on a power play goal. Then Roanoke scored 3 straight goals from Nick Ford to take a 3-1 lead. Peoria evened up the game with 2 goals after 2 periods. Midway through the 3rd, Roanoke would get the game winning goal from Brant Sherwood. Game 4 of the best of 5 series is Tuesday night at 7:05 at the Berglund Center.
