O’Dea scores twice as Rail Yard Dawgs defeat Rivermen, 3-1

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Rail Yard Dawgs scored three unanswered goals in the first period en route to a 3-1 victory over the Rivermen in SPHL action on Saturday at the Berglund Center.

Mac Jansen scored the opening goal, his 15th of the season, seven minutes into the contest.

Matt O’Dea scored twice within the span of a minute late in the period to notch his sixth and seventh goals of the season.

Mitchell McPherson’s goal in the second period helped Peoria avoid the shutout.

The Rail Yard Dawgs improve to 12-6-6 while the Rivermen fall to 13-5-4. Roanoke heads to Fayetteville for a road contest on Friday before returning to the Berglund Center to host the Marksmen on Saturday and Sunday.
