Lynchburg Hillcats’ Andrés Meléndez suddenly passes away at 20

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The baseball community is mourning after Thursday night’s announcement about the death of a member of the Lynchburg Hillcats.

Minor League Baseball says Andrés Meléndez, a catcher with the Lynchburg Hillcats, passed away in Miami at the age of 20 on Thursday, Dec. 16.

According to Minor League Baseball, Meléndez was also a catching prospect for the Cleveland Guardians.

As of this writing, there is no word on his cause of death.
