ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Last Friday, Glenvar high school senior quarterback Aiden Wolk threw for three touchdowns and surpassed the 1,000 yard passing mark for the season in his teams win against Floyd County. He’s now the all-time passing leader in Highlander football history. Although Wolk’s path has been centered primarily around football, his future collegiate career has led him to a higher calling.
Glenvar senior quarterback Aiden Wolk can now add another accolade to his already impressive resume. “Just an email from an acceptance letter from Liberty and I was super nervous about it all week because that’s the first place I submitted my application to that was the place I wanted to go,” said Wolk. It’s been a dream of Wolk’s to attend Liberty University not just as a student but a football player. He even reached out to Flames head football coach Hugh Freeze – even though he has so much love for the team – his desire was to be part of something deeper.
“I started getting involved with my church more then I realized I wanted to get into ministry and other stuff and that they have a degree in ministry. I was like that’s going to be one of the first places. I’m going to send an application too,” said Wolk. “There’s just something joyful about watching someone reach their potential from fulfilling their goals and dreams and it’s an internal feeling. It feels good when you or anyone does well in life, we should be applauding them,” Glenvar Head Football Coach Kevin Clifford.
With his new journey laid out in front of him, Wolk’s dream has now become a reality. “I’ve been kind of stressed about it during the week and I’ve been praying over it a lot and just being able to see that I was reading it. I was all jittery and running around my room jumping around super excited. So, be able to be most of the part of the way there, it’s huge,” said Wolk.
